The Little Mermaid

This replica of the Copenhagen Denmark statue of the Little Mermaid is all that remains of Erik’s Floating Restaurant in Tavernier, Florida in the Keys. Erik and Linda Jorgensen sold the restaurant, which was built on a concrete-hulled barge, sometine in the late 1980’s. The new owners failed to pay the electric bill, the bilge pumps failed when the power was shut off and the restaurant sank.

Where Paddles Have Been

A bubble floats on the surface of the lower Withlacoochee River below Lake Rousseau left behind by kayaker’s paddles. The brackish water creates a rich environment for wildlife.
